Håholmen: Authentic Coastal Heritage Rooted in History

Beskrivelse

Information

Håholmen is a preserved island settlement and former clipfish trading post with deep historical roots. For centuries, fishermen, sailors and merchants have found harbour, livelihood and home here.

Secluded Surroundings in a Historic Setting

Both by nature and by human hand, Håholmen offers a distinctive experience.

The outer edge of the island forms a final barrier against the open ocean and the coastal shipping lane beyond. On the inner side lies a rare and sheltered natural harbour, protected from shifting weather.

Twenty-five original buildings — several dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries — give Håholmen the character of an intimate coastal village shaped by lived history.

Håholmen has specialised in welcoming corporate groups from Norway and abroad seeking undisturbed surroundings.

Here, the conditions are well suited to strengthening relationships with clients, partners and colleagues alike.

A Place to Stay, Dine and Meet

The island offers 47 guest rooms distributed across several of the historic buildings. All rooms include private bathrooms with shower facilities — but no televisions.

The intention is simple: to allow guests to experience quiet and presence without distraction.

The island also offers:

  • Restaurant Ytterbrygga — maritime cuisine centred on local produce, including traditional clipfish, served with views towards the open sea
  • Silver Bell Kro — a rustic pub with long tables and authentic coastal atmosphere
  • A museum and local historians who bring Håholmen’s cultural heritage to life
  • Meeting rooms and flexible event spaces for gatherings ranging from conversations and presentations to celebrations

A Landscape of Shared Experience

Håholmen offers a broad range of activities designed to foster connection and focus within a group programme:

  • Collective storytelling and film screenings in Saga Siglar Hall — a vivid introduction to the island’s heritage
  • Sea bathing and winter swimming directly from the quay
  • Rowing boats or stand-up paddling in the surrounding archipelago
  • Guided walks and outdoor lunches in the nearby landscape
  • E-bike excursions along the dramatic coastline and the renowned Atlantic Ocean Road

A Natural Choice for Groups

Håholmen is particularly well suited when the aim is to combine:

  • Authentic coastal heritage
  • Nature-based experiences with depth
  • Settings for shared reflection and dialogue
  • Flexible facilities within short distances

The result is a concentrated yet varied setting — ideal for groups seeking to build relationships, exchange perspectives and draw inspiration from surroundings that are both living and genuine.

The Journey to Håholmen

Perfect Moments designs the journey to Håholmen in line with the group’s objectives.

Most groups fly into Molde, followed by a private transfer of approximately fifty minutes along the celebrated Atlantic Ocean Road.

The final approach to the island is maritime — often aboard Håholmen’s own historic vessels.
